Fall (2022): Movie Review
Plot: Fear reaches new heights.
For best friends Becky and Hunter, life is all about conquering fears and pushing limits. But after they climb 2,000 feet to the top of a remote, abandoned radio tower, they find themselves stranded with no way down. Now Becky and Hunter's expert climbing skills will be put to the ultimate test as they desperately fight to survive the elements, a lack of supplies, and vertigo-inducing heights.
Review: The opening scene of the film features best friends Becky and Hunter rock climbing with Becky's husband Sam.
Dan is fiddling with a particularly tough aperture when a bat flies out of the fissure he was holding onto, startling him and causing him to lose his footing.
Dan tries to swing back while still attached to his harness, but instead, he falls to his death. After 53 weeks, Becky's life is in complete chaos.
She tried to take her own life before Hunter arrived, has become engulfed in sadness, resigned to drinking, and estranged herself from her father since he did not believe Dan was good enough for her.
In an effort to comfort her, Hunter offers that Becky joins her as they climb a 2000-foot TV tower in the desert.
Once they reach the top, they would spread Dan's ashes as well as provide Becky with a cathartic experience to help her deal with her grief and terror.
The adrenaline addict Hunter is currently an Instagram influencer. The tower climb is just the most recent of many outrageous actions she has performed to get notoriety and satisfy her need for excitement.
Hunter demonstrates to her how to use a lamp's leads as a power outlet to charge her phone as they eat dinner at a restaurant before continuing their journey to the tower.
On their way to the tower the following day, the girls are unable to pass the gate. They then begin to move in the direction of the tower when they come across a half-dead coyote that a group of vultures is feeding on.
FLOP: The fact that you had to climb a 2000-foot tower to achieve closure makes the plot difficult to relate to.
