Chima Udoye emerges 2024 Nigerian Idol winner

THE contestant Chima Udoye has been crowned the winner of the 2024 Nigerian Idol. Udoye was crowned the champion at the finale of the reality music show’s ninth edition on Sunday night. He defeated his close rivals Chioma and Lammy in the final. Udoye is to receive a grand prize of N30 million, a brand-new SUV, a record deal, and a video shoot among the prizes. The finale featured guest performances from Simi, Chike, and past Nigerian Idol winners such as Progress and Victory Gbakara. Omawunmi, one of the judges, performed a thank-you song with the evicted contestants. Nigerian Idol is a country version of the Idol series franchise. The 2024 Nigerian Idol, hosted by IK Osakioduwa, premiered in April with 9ice, Omawumi, and Ric Hassani as judges. This year’s edition, themed ‘Dare to Dream’, aired live for eight weeks, from April 21 to July 14.

Renowned Nigerian musician David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has unveiled a new social media app.  He announced the launch on his social media accounts, sharing the app’s development journey and its features, which he co-founded with his friend Sir Banko. Chatter aims to provide a dynamic community for content creators to connect and amplify their voices. This marks Davido’s third online venture in eight months, following the introduction of his cryptocurrency, which unfortunately experienced a swift decline in value. Despite this, Davido’s enthusiasm for innovative projects continues to shine through.

Nigerian disk jockey, Florence Otedola, popularly known as DJ Cuppy, has revealed what she can offer in a relationship. According to the billionaire heiress, who recently got baptised at a UK Church, the Holy Bible is what she brings to the table. She disclosed this while joining the viral social media ‘What do you bring to the table’ challenge, which implies what a partner can offer in a relationship or marriage. On her X handle, Cuppy shared: “‘What do you bring to the table?’ “Me: Holy Bible.” The music star recently shared updates on her spiritual growth with fans. She explained that embracing her faith has made her realise that being beautiful is more than just an outward appearance. According to her, true beauty is about inner peace, purpose, and self-worth. DJ Cuppy is publicly known to be single at the moment.

BBNaija officially announces date for Season 9 edition

THE Big Brother Naija reality show has finally announced the date to kick off its Season 9 edition. The show organisers made the announcement on their official Instagram page on Friday night. According to the graphics posted, the show which will last for 71 days, will kick off on July 28, 2024. According to the organisers, the 2024 Season 9 edition will be ‘Two Journeys in One House’. “BBNaija Season 9 is HERE! This is a must follow Season! Get ready for double the drama, ships, and HUGE competition! Cameras 24/7 for 71 days. Don’t miss the premiere on July 28th at 7 PM WAT.” Meanwhile, the organisers had earlier disclosed that the show will hold in July.

BBNaija season 9 set to kick off

Organizers of Big Brother Naija have announced that the season nine of the reality TV show will kick start in July 2024. They made the announcement in a post shared on its official X account on Sunday, June 30, 2024. The theme of the new edition was teased in a creative photo. The post read “One Sunday in July. Get ready.” This comes amid controversy over the failure of the season seven, Level Up edition’s sponsors to fulfil their promises to the winner, Phyna.
