THE Labour Party candidate, Mr Thaddeus Attah has defeated Banky W of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in the Saturday election for the Eti-Osa Federal Constituency. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Labour Party winner of the poll during a result collation at the Model Nursery and Primary School, Marwa, Lekki 1. The INEC returning officer, Prof Funmilayo Odukoya made the declaration. Attah won with 24,075 votes, beating his counterparts, Mr Olubankole Wellington (Banky W) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who had 18,666 votes, and Mr Babjide Obanikoro of the APC, who had 16, 901 votes.

R. Kelly, 56-years-old, was sentenced to 20 years in prison in a Chicago federal courtroom following his conviction last year on charges of child pornography and enticement of a minor.   The R&B singer is already serving a 30-year prison term for his 2021 conviction on racketeering and sex trafficking charges in a New York federal court.   US District Judge Harry D. Leinenweber said in court Thursday, Feb. 23, that 19 years of the 20-year prison sentence would be served concurrently, or at the same time as his other sentence. One year would be served consecutively, or after that sentence is complete, he said.   Kelly was convicted in September on three counts of production of child pornography and three counts of enticement of a minor to engage in criminal sexual activity. The Federal High Court in Lagos has granted bail to an actress, Oluwadarasimi Omoseyin, who was arraigned before the court on Monday by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for allegedly spraying new naira notes at a party.  Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke who admitted the actress to bail in the sum of N5 million with one surety in like sum, also ruled that the surety must be a public servant in the service of the Federation or the Lagos State Government not below the rank of Grade Level 12, or a holder of a genuine statutory certificate of occupancy of a developed landed property within the Lagos State Municipality.  The court also held that the Certified True Copy (CTC) of the original statutory certificate of occupancy of the landed property is to be deposited with the Registrar of the court and in the case of the public servant, an official letter from his or her head of department stating the status and salary level of the surety.  The surety is to also produce to the cou

Veteran Nollywood actor, Nkem Owoh, has given a reason Nigerian movies are far better than those produced by other countries. In a recent interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the actor stated that Nigerian films depict real-life situations and events and that comparing the quality of Nigerian films to those from advanced and developed nations is inappropriate. In his words; “The storyline we take is better than any story from any Woods, we don’t have the technology, but we have the story. We are a third world country coming up, and people should give us kudos for the level we have attained. I believe, with the stories and creativity among us, if we get the needed technology, we will go places. Imade Adeleke, daughter of Nigerian hip-hop sensation, David Adeleke popularly known as Davido has been hospitalized. Imade’s mum, Sophia Momodu, posted clips online showing her (Imade) on drip. In the clip posted by Sophia on Snapchat, a drip was passed through Imade’s vein with a plaster holding tightly the needle that was used as she was captured assisting her in using the toilet. Although the mother of one did not comment on what happened to her, the video, however, shows that Imade is not in good health condition. Award winning South African rapper AKA, real name is Kiernan Forbes, has been shot dead in Durban, South Africa on Friday, February 10. The rapper who was based in Johannesburg flew into Durban earlier today February 10th for his birthday party which was scheduled to hold at Yugo Nightclub which he had advertised on his social media pages and asked fans to show up.   Two hours before he was killed, AKA had gone to Fish Restaurant on Florida Road with some friends and his bodyguard and posted his location on his IG page. After the meal, he stepped outside the restaurant and that was when he was killed shortly after 10pm.   There are witnesses claiming someone walked up to him and shot him 6 times and there are other reports that claim it was a drive-by shooting. That two cars drove by the restaurant as AKA stood outside with friends and was shot dead. A friend standing with him was also killed while his bodyguard was injured in the shooting. Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Lagos Zonal Command, have commenced investigation of a Nigerian actress and cosmetologist, Oluwadarasimi Omoseyin, for allegedly tampering with the nelwy redesigned naira notes, an offcence contrary to Section 21 (5) of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN Act, 2007. Several Nigerians have reacted over the arrest of a popular actress, Omoseyin Oluwadarasimi Esther, popularly known as Simisola Gold by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), over claims of selling the new naira notes. The report of the event which led to her arrest was revealed by the ICPC’s spokesperson, Azuka Ogugua in Abuja, on Wednesday.
