Phyna reacts after her family alleged that she abandoned them after winning BBN prize money

Big Brother Naija season 7 winner, Josephina 'Phyna' Otabor, has responded after her father accused her of abandoning them when she won N100m from the reality show.  In an interview with Vanguard,  Phyna's father, Mr Felix Otabor, said the reality star doesn't pick her family's calls anymore and they have not set eyes on her since the day she was announced the winner of BBNaija season 7, in 2022 (read here).   He added that when she won N100m, the family thought their suffering had come to an end, but their daughter disappeared afterwards.  Reacting to the allegations, Phyna wrote on Twitter: "In the history of dragging ….. this is the first time I cried and it touched me. Joseph Aloba, the father of Ilerioluwa Aloba, aka Mohbad, has disclosed how the late singer met his wife, Wunmi, at Naira Marley’s Marlian Music label. Mohbad died on September 12, 2023, in Lagos State. While describing Mohbad as a simple and modest individual, he added that the duo had known each other at a very tender age at Oke-Iletu, Ikorodu, Lagos, before they were able to reconnect at Naira Marley’s label. However, before they reconnected, there was no string attached between them. Wunmi is said to have given birth to Liam, son of the deceased. Clarifying this through the song “Komajensun” which Mohbad sang in 2020, Aloba spoke of a lyric, “Naira lo gbe omo fun mi, I’m not a womaniser”, in the song referencing how Mohbad reconnected with Wunmi at Marlian record. “He (Mohbad) met the lady (Wunmi) there (at Marlian Music) but they had known each other from Oke-Iletu, even though the lady was a student then,” Aloba disclosed to the Punch. He added that even if he were not a musician, he would still be hustling and finding ways to earn a living. Popular Nollywood actresses Tonto Dikeh and Iyabo Ojo went shopping for a casket for the late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, better known as Mohbad. The celebrities, who have been vocal in their pursuit of justice for the deceased singer, visited Ebony Vault in Ikoyi, Lagos state, to checkout the available caskets on Thursday, September 28. Lagos State Police Command, on Thursday, announced the arrest of music promoter and controversial Lagos socialite, Balogun Olamilekan Eletu, also known as Sam Larry. He was arrested over an ongoing investigation into the death of singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, aka Mohbad. Popular Nollywood actress, Iyabo Ojo has accused Nigerians of being unreasonable in their demands for Omowunmi, the widow of the late musician Mohbad, to do a DNA test on her child to establish the boy’s paternity. It has been reported that certain Nigerians have persisted in demanding a DNA test be performed on Mohbad’s five-month-old boy to establish his paternity. Mohbad: People take to their heels as police throw tear gas during Singer's candlelight procession

Scores of Lagos residents who attended Mohbad's candlelight procession tonight took to their heels when police allegedly threw tear gas to disperse them.   A candlelight procession and memorial concert for Mohbad held Thursday night, Sept. 21.   The procession started earlier in the evening at Lekki Phase 1 and the memorial concert began later by 8 PM at the Muri Okunola Park in Victoria Island, Lagos.   However, by 11pm, those still carrying on the procession at Lekki began crying out on social media  that they were teargased by the police to disperse them.   Videos from the scene show people running as smoke from the tear gas rises all around them.

THE body of the late Nigerian singer, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has been exhumed for autopsy. Lagos State Police spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, disclosed the development via his X handle on Thursday. The Lagos Police image maker wrote:  “Exhumation completed. Autopsy to commence. #JusticeForMohad #Justice4Mohbad.” VAM had earlier reported that a 13-man special investigation team was inaugurated by the Lagos State Police Command to probe the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s sudden death last week Tuesday.

Popular singer Ahmed Ololade, known professionally as Asake, has revealed why he is using his mother’s name as his stage name. “My stage name is actually my mother’s. While I was in the cultural group, people used to call me ‘omo Asake,’ which means child of Asake in Yoruba. And after a while, it just stuck. People stopped adding the ‘omo’ and left ‘Asake.’ I thought it was cool and decided to go by it,” he said. The singer said he decided to go by the stage name because it was cool. Nigerian singer Teniola Apata, aka Teni Makaniki, has said the assassination of her father, the late Brig. Gen. Simeon Apata (retd.) in her presence greatly affected her. Speaking in an interview with media personality Taymesan, Teni disclosed that she was two years old when gunmen stormed their Lagos home and murdered her father in the presence of the family. The ‘Uyo Meyo’ crooner added that this affected her growing up as she has since developed trust issues.
